25,500 students in Germany received a scholarship in 2016/17

In 2016, 25,500 students in Germany were granted a scholarship, Destatis said.

Germany’s Federal Office for Statistics, Destatis, revealed the number of students that took a Germany Scholarship in 2016.

As they state, this marks a 5% year-on-year increase in the number of students who were granted a scholarship.

Awarded students in 2016 counted for 0.9% of the total number of students enrolled in Germany’s higher education of the winter semester 2016/17.

Most of these students were in Saarland (1.6%), while the lowest portion of granted students with such scholarship was in Hamburg (0.3%) and Schleswig – Holstein (0.5%), Destatis’s statement ends.
