40.7% of Chinese students studying at US universities were enrolled at the undergraduate level, IIE statistics revealed.
China was the top leading place of origin for more than a million international students in the US, in 2016/17.
350,755 or 32.5% of the total number of international students in the US came from China.
In terms of the academic level, undergraduate students maintained the highest percentage. 142,851 or 40.7% of Chinese students were enrolled at the undergraduate level during the last academic year.
128,320 Chinese students were studying at the graduate level, while 59,835 at OPT programs and 19,749 at Non-Degree programs.
