6.4 % of the UK resident students likely to drop out of University, the Hesa’s annual report shows.

Non-continuation rates of first degree UK resident students showed a slight increase in recent years based on these statistics.

In 2011/12, 5.7% of the UK residents who entered higher education abandoned school after their first academic year, while in 2015/16, up to which academic year the report covers data, 6.4% of these students did so.

Depending on location, the percentage of dropouts in 2015/16 is higher in England and smaller in Northern Ireland. 6.4 % of English first degree students abandoned education, while 4.6% NI first degree students did this.
